ELIX FENCE Snail Containment System

Analyzing the snail farming sector, the designed, tested, and recommended solution is ELIX FENCE: the perfect combination of a special bipolar tape (incorporating both electrical phases within it) and a highly durable, Italian-made mesh.

Our electric fencing for snail farming serves a dual purpose: on one hand, it prevents snails from escaping by keeping them inside the breeding patch; on the other hand, it protects them from ultraviolet rays and predators.

Installation Note: We highly recommend burying the netting by at least 20 cm. This step prevents predators from digging underneath to enter, while simultaneously reinforcing the fence layout against strong winds.
Specifications: Buried depth: 20 cm | Height above ground: 80 cm | Total net height: 1 m

System Innovation: Netting & Bipolar Tape

The green **netting** offers excellent shading performance to keep snails fully protected from direct solar UV radiation. The reinforced top edge stitch paired with calibrated weave layout guarantees complete wind structural stability. The core innovation remains the **Badi Farm Bipolar Tape**, pre-stitched onto the netting to build an impassable physical and electrical defensive flap:

  • 10 stainless steel wires (0.40 mm diameter) providing outstanding electrical conductivity, ensuring maximum shock delivery even with thick vegetation contact.
  • 31 polyethylene threads (0.50 mm diameter) equipped with anti-UV shielding compound against solar deterioration.
  • 2 heavy-duty polyester shock wires (0.80 mm diameter) stitched along the borders to completely prevent line sagging or physical stretching.

Energizers & Connections

We recommend our specialized low-voltage snail farming energizers, compatible with 220/230V mains or 12V battery inputs (solar panel adaptive), calibrated for sensitive animals.

For safe power transmission, only deploy our Teflon-insulated high-voltage lead out cable (Ref. 28), rated over 24,000V. It guarantees optimal pulse transfers between the fencer and the tape phases via stainless steel wire connectors Ref. 59G or selector switches Ref. 52.

Post Styles & Fixing Methods

  • Ref. 47M8 / 47M10 (1.5m): Pressure-treated wood fence posts with plastic top covers. 80mm or 100mm sections.
  • Ref. 40M8PR (1.5m): Certified recycled eco-PVC posts built with an internal heavy iron support core, 80mm diameter.
  • Ref. 7B: Flexible fiberglass structural rods, 12mm diameter, available in 120mm or 170mm heights.

Layout rules: Maintain a maximum post interval of 3 meters. For structural corner points, always source wood posts (Ref. 47M10) or iron-reinforced PVC posts. Secure netting onto wood/PVC using standard staples; for fiberglass rods, slide the insulator Ref. 9N on top and attach zip ties every 15/20 cm.

Assembly Manual: How to Build Your Snail Fence

  1. Perimeter Trenching: Dig a 20 cm deep trench along your designated breeding grid layout, and layout the netting on the flat ground beside it.
  2. Post Setup: Drive the posts into the ground (max 3m spacing) and slide or lock the net onto them using specialized brackets (Ref. 7B rods with Ref. 9N top insulator recommended).
  3. Trench Backfill: Bury the bottom portion of the mesh by backfilling the trench. The useful active fence height above ground level will measure exactly 80 cm.
  4. Wire Splices: At net joining intersections, connect the bipolar tape strands using two Ref. 59G clamps. Route one connection to the active positive phase (marked by lightning bolt graphic; place this on the bottom strand which escaping snails hit first) and the other to ground. Ensure wires do not cross paths or invert.
  5. Energizer Connection: Mount your fencer (e.g., Ref. E34) inside an IP65 weatherproof control box or enclosed dry shed. Connect the positive shock output to the bottom strand of the fence using the Ref. 28 Teflon lead out wire. Route the ground return output from the fencer to the Ref. T1 earth ground rod and link it directly to the top strand of the fence layout.
  6. Activation & Flap Alignment: Walk the fence perimeter manually to flip up the pre-stitched bipolar tape edge to shape the outward defensive "flap". Turn the system on and test active line voltages across the loop using diagnostic tool meters Ref. 18 or Ref. 19.
