"HARD" silica sand is not comfortable for your horse, and after years of promoting silica-based soils as a panacea for all problems in sport and recreational horses, it is now becoming clear that hard soils in the long run fatigue the horse's tendons and joints.

What is the solution? Either add an "organic and therefore soft" component to soils normally in the subgrade, but this often causes problems when using the field during winter months and rainy weather, or add a component varying from 12% to 18% of certified Non-Toxic EPDM granules to silica or semi-silica sand. The elastic response improves noticeably, as does the horse's comfort.

The sand, however, should be mixed periodically, preferably with a rotary harrow, as the granules tend to float. Being available in different colors, some customers prefer gray or light ochre, which blend in and are not visible in the soil, while others prefer more striking colors such as green or even red or blue.

What can we expect from adding EPDM granules to soils? We expect better elastic response, a tendency to reduce soil compaction, and an improvement in horses' conditions.

Can you build a soil completely with EPDM granules? Of course! It is a significant investment but for horses it is a whole different story! And above all, being a certified non-toxic and Eco-Friendly product, any future disposal will not be a problem.
