Catalyst enzymes

Enzyme catalysts

Bedding is a fundamental element, it is one of the largest expense items given the cost of shavings, and it is also the sore point for horse health (both if too little product is used, causing fetlock abrasions and various sores, and if there is an excess of product with ammonia fumes). Our solution: "a lot" of bedding but with ENZYME CATALYSTS. The annual cost for bedding is around €150.00 per horse. But let's look at the specifics:

What is it and how does it work?

ENZYMES CATALYST is a natural product based on enzymes, proteins produced by bacteria found in the intestine; these, after a careful selection, are reproduced and multiplied in a culture soil.

Enzymes Catalyst is a product specifically formulated for Badi Farm, which uses a special mixture of enzymes and catalysts, with the function of digesting organic matter and guaranteeing a significant reduction of ammonia (transformed into mineral salts) without raising the temperature of the bedding and changing the optimal parameters for the horse's life.

A dirty and untreated bedding is a biological "bomb"; in fact, there are many bacterial colonies that we cannot see with the naked eye; if these are not well managed, with daily cleaning etc., they cause serious health problems to the horse, from frog rot to irritation of the respiratory system mucous membranes caused by ammonia fumes that reduce sports performance.

They are used by many stables and are also used in our breeding farm!

It is a natural, non-toxic, non-corrosive product that is not harmful to humans, animals, and the environment.

Catalyzed permanent bedding or traditional bedding?

Did you know that?

  • With traditional bedding, in normal stall cleaning, about 30% to 40% of still clean material is thrown away.
  • Bedding, in addition to absorbing liquids, supports the horse's weight and must therefore be soft, so traditional bedding is not good because it is low and the horse often pushes it aside, resting on the hard floor and causing capped hocks or sores.
  • In traditional bedding, urine produces ammonia fumes that irritate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, predisposing it to pathologies and reducing sports performance; the same irritating effect is achieved even with the use of strong disinfectants.
  • Due to the fermentation that always accompanies the decomposition of bedding, there may be bacteria that can cause problems to the general condition of the horse and foot infections.
