Work less, save money and improve your horse's life. What are they?
Enzymes are proteins produced by bacteria found in the intestines, in this case of cattle, which are selected and reproduced and multiplied in culture soil. Enzymes Catalyst is a product formulated in the USA, specially designed for Badi Farm, which uses a special blend of microorganisms and catalysts with the function of digesting organic matter and guarantees a significant reduction of ammonia (converted into mineral salts) without raising the temperature of the bedding and modifying the optimal parameters for the horse's life.
This mixture, in addition to creating the ideal substrate for permanent bedding, guarantees a significant reduction of ammonia without raising the temperature of the bedding and modifying the optimal parameters for the horse's life. They are used by many stables, farms, training and exercise centers and are also used for our horses! Many trainers in both trotting and galloping use them even with straw.
It is a natural product, non-toxic, non-corrosive and safe for humans, animals and the environment.
Starting from a dirty bedding of at least 7 days prepared by creating a box 20 cm high – where the soiled areas have been cleaned without removing urine and dark sawdust – in order to form a substrate where the enzymes can start working, mix the bedding well. Daily remove the wet part and most of the manure, turning the bedding. On the eighth day, remove the wet part and most of the manure, create a pile of the material from the box and start with 150 g of Enzymes Catalyst. Use 50 g and spread it evenly over the entire floor. Spread about half of the bedding pile using a rake and spread another 50 g on the surface and then spread the remainder, covering with abundant fresh material until reaching a height of 20 cm. From now on remove only the majority of the manure; the bedding should no longer be turned. Every three days, for the first 5 times, add 150 g of enzymes scattered over the bedding and then add wood chips or sawdust. (Coarse sawdust can be used, because the enzymes working on the urine produce vapor and mineral salts and therefore the bedding will always be slightly damp, just enough to prevent dust problems for horses). Within 15 days you should reach an optimal bedding of 25/30 cm when trampled. The addition of material at this stage is important, as a low bedding does not allow the enzymes to distribute and work with a certain degree of humidity, moreover this type of bedding must last over time (12/15 months) and must absorb about 6000 liters of urine. A low bedding becomes damp quickly and its lifespan is reduced (about 2 months). The material you will add will bring savings by extending the life of the bedding.
Maintenance treatments involve spreading 100 g of Enzymes Catalyst per week over all the bedding and in greater measure in the dirtier areas (keeping in mind that males urinate towards the center of the bedding and females tend to soil more on the edges), but be aware that enzymes must always be spread over all the bedding. If you notice an increase in ammonia, increase treatments and the recommended dose until things return to normal. In very dry periods, to better activate the enzymes, you can dilute them in water at 30°C.
The phase that will allow you to save on material used begins here: approximately 60% less material is used compared to before. You must always keep in mind that the bedding should be dry and the color (light or dark) you want. To obtain a lighter bedding, it is good to distribute the wood chips addition in two or three weekly intervals rather than in a single solution.
Daily operations are limited to only removing the bulk of the manure and evening out the bedding; it should never be turned. Disinfectants or lime should no longer be used on this type of bedding. Enzymes Catalyst is a natural environmental sanitizer.
Our products are also effective for improving straw bedding! The main problem with straw is its low absorption capacity so it leaves all urine on the floor: obviously the bedding does not become permanent but spreading 60 g of Enzymes every 2 days on the clean floor, always without disinfectants helps fight odor and prevents the development of ammonia vapors.
